Billowing sails. Fresh sea air. Impressive traditional ships. The Wilhelmshaven Sailing CUP is celebrating its 20th anniversary as the oldest traditional sailing regatta on the North Sea and promises a maritime atmosphere at Bontekai once again this year.

In addition to the guaranteed unforgettable competition on the Jade on Saturday, there will also be maritime flair on land. The supporting programme with live music, harbour tours and a quayside market will provide varied entertainment from Friday to Monday.

The event from 30 September to 3 October 2022 is the maritime highlight of the year in the harbour city. The traditional sailing regatta takes centre stage at the festival weekend. The ships set sail on Saturday 1 October to take part in the exciting competition. All sailors, even those with no previous experience, can actively participate to lead their team to victory. The regatta promises pure adrenalin and is guaranteed to be an unforgettable experience! A highlight of the event is the entry parade of the sailors through the Kaiser Wilhelm Bridge late on Saturday afternoon.

The programme starts on Friday, 30 September, when pupils, students and trainees set sail for the "Boarding Next Generation" youth regatta. On Saturday, the 10th International Harbour Swim will take place and on Sunday, young people will race in the Junior Sailing CUP in the Grand Harbour. The 11th PapierBootRegatta is also an integral part of the event. For all those who prefer solid ground under their feet, the supporting programme will provide entertainment. The weekend kicks off with the Kajenmarkt with delicacies from the coast and artisan trinkets. On Sunday and Monday, the captains of the traditional sailing ships open their hatches for free ship tours at the Open Ship. There is varied live music on the harbour stage throughout the weekend. Harbour tours, freshly caught crabs from the crab cutter, children's activities, a church service and Sunday shopping with "Pirate City" will round off the programme.

Anyone interested should definitely secure one of the last sailing tickets! Further information is available at the Tourist Information Centre, Eberstraße 110 or at: www.wilhelmshaven-sailing-cup.de
