The Finnish company Marine Alutech and the German shipyard Gebrüder Friedrich Kiel have agreed to work together more closely in future.

With this cooperation agreement, both companies want to be closer to their customers with joint projects in the growing defence sector. This agreement enables the production of Marine Alutech's Watercat patrol and combat boats in Kiel. The first agreement includes the assembly of the Watercat 2000 patrol boats. Seven vessels of this series are already in service in the Mediterranean for Frontex operations.
Both companies are family-run and well known in the maritime environment. Marine Alutech Oy Ab is a Finnish family-owned company with a long tradition of manufacturing government vessels in Finland. The company specialises in the design, production, maintenance and life cycle support of smaller government vessels. Marine Alutech is expanding and has an order volume of around 200 million euros. The aim is to increase the workforce to around 500 employees by 2030. Gebrüder Friedrich GmbH & Co. KG is a family-run shipyard that was founded in 1921. Its core business is the repair and maintenance of warships and the shipyard is also active in system integration. The Gebrüder Friedrich Group also includes an electrical engineering company that is mainly active as a service provider for the maritime defence industry and as a system maintenance contractor for the navy
