Atlas Elektronik receives order to supply underwater minehunting vehicles for the Royal Navy
ATLAS ELEKTRONIK UK (AEUK) has been awarded a contract by DE&S's Mine Hunting Capability (MHC) team to supply autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) systems to the UK Royal Navy (RN). The contract, worth £32 million, includes the delivery of three MHC AUV systems totalling nine vehicles, as well as a comprehensive training and support package for a period of three years from delivery.
Already in operation is the ARCIMS unmanned surface vessel (USVs) with mine-clearing payloads and towed mine-hunting sonars, which are controlled by the autonomous software and sensors of AEUK's unmanned vehicles (UxV).
The MHC AUV system combines the mid-size SeaCat® AUV from ATLAS ELEKTRONIK GmbH, equipped with the latest high-resolution AEUK Vision Synthetic Aperture Sonar (SAS) and Seebyte Neptune and Military software for planning and analysis. AEUK, in collaboration with Lidan Marine, has developed an AUV remote control system for the MHC AUV project, providing a launch and recovery system (LARS) for the operation of platforms such as the RN ARCIMS USVs and SEA class workboats.
