The Norwegian Defence Material Agency (NDMA) has awarded Patria the contract to build a Sonac ACS Acoustic Minesweeping System. It will be used to equip the country's navy.
The system utilises patented Sound Source technology, which Patria claims offers unprecedented performance in mine detection, target simulation and mine jamming. The innovative design allows accurate reproduction of real, pre-recorded or synthesised sounds and is capable of working with different mine settings. This means that the system can also be used against modern, intelligent sea mines. Thanks to its small size, the Patria Sonac ACS can also be operated on future lightweight and autonomous mine detection systems.
