BDSV: Friedrich Lürssen hands over board seat to Tim Wagner

Friedrich Lürssen, shareholder of the Lürssen Group, stepped down from the board of the Federal Association of the Security and Defence Industry (BDSV) after fourteen years of service. Tim Wagner, CEO of the NVL Group, took over as treasurer during a members' meeting on 16 November 2023.

Until 2012, the Bremen shipyard manager was President of the BDSV, which was formed from the Federation of German Industries in 2009. Prior to that, he was Chairman of the Defence Industry Committee of the Federation of German Industries (BDI) from 2004.

The BDSV sees itself as a representative of the interests of the German security and defence industry. The association aims to support companies in national and international competition and sees itself as a point of contact for companies of all sizes in a rapidly changing economic sector.

German naval shipbuilding has a second voice on the eight-member BDSV board with Oliver Burkhard, Chairman of the Management Board of thyssenkrupp Marine Systems GmbH. The President is Armin Pappberger, Chairman of the Executive Board of Rheinmetall AG. Kraus-Maffei Wegmann, Airbus Helicopters Deutschland, Diehl Stiftung and Diehl Defence and Hensoldt are also represented. Andreas Sedlmayr of the Autoflug Group is currently the representative for SMEs.
