Brazilian training ship BNS NAVIO ESCOLA BRASIL visits the Hanseatic City of Hamburg for the 25th time
On 29 September 2021, the Brazilian training ship BNS NAVIO ESCOLA BRASIL arrived in the port of Hamburg under the command of Captain Marcelo do Nascimento Marcelino. The training ship, which was commissioned in 1986, is on a training voyage with 454 crew members - including 189 cadets - and is visiting the Hanseatic city of Hamburg for the 25th time. During this training voyage, the cadets of the Brazilian Navy will be confronted with the realisation of the training contents of the previous four years of their intensive cadet training. The training voyage on the 130m long, 13.5m wide and 3,900 tonne displacement frigate is scheduled to last six months. The training project is highly regarded by the cadets and midshipmen of the Brazilian Navy as a highlight, as it gives them the opportunity to put their acquired skills and abilities to the test in practice.
The voyage will take her from Brazil via the Cape Verde Islands to Hamburg. After a five-day stay in the Hanseatic city on the Elbe, the BNS NAVIO ESCOLA BRASIL will continue its journey to Saint Petersburg on 3 October 2021.
The marine forum wishes the comrades of the Brazilian Navy a good and safe voyage and the cadets and midshipmen a successful completion of their training voyage, for which a promotion to Segundo Tenente (Lieutenant OF-1) is planned one day before entering Brazil.
