The Brazilian naval training ship "Navio Escola BRASIL" (U 27) visits Hamburg and invites you to an open ship on Friday afternoon.
With a record-breaking 29 ship visits, the training ship pays tribute to the port of Hamburg. On Wednesday, 08 October 2025 at 09:00 a.m. the ship will then moor at the overseas bridge. On board the Brazilian training ship are a total of 486 soldiers, including around 200 cadets, who will learn maritime skills during their training, gain valuable border experience and also get to know the world. The NE BRASIL comes from Gothenburg in Sweden and will leave Hamburg for London/UK on Saturday, 11 October 2025 at 16:00.
As part of the Host Nation Support, the Hamburg State Command coordinates, plans and organises the visit of the naval vessel. The crew is given the opportunity to familiarise themselves with the country and people of Hamburg and the surrounding area during various shore leave and excursions.
The NE BRASIL was built in Brazil and commissioned in 1986. It is around 130 metres long and displaces around 3,400 tonnes. Among other things, it has sensors for above-water situational awareness and a landing platform for helicopters. The NE Brasil's last visit to Hamburg took place in October 2024.
The Open Ship will take place on Friday, 10.10.2025 at the Überseebrücke from 14:00 to 17:00. The latest admission time is 16:30. Visitors are requested not to bring large rucksacks and bags on board for safety reasons.
