Delayed and too expensive

The US Navy's ship procurement programme is several years behind schedule. At the same time, costs are exploding. The government announces targeted measures. It has long been known that most US naval shipbuilding projects are behind schedule. The Navy's ocean-going fleet currently has fewer than 300 units, including fleet supply ships. The Pentagon estimates that 381 units would be needed to fulfil all of the Navy's global commitments. The slow pace of shipbuilding is hampering the expansion of the fleet and the replacement of older ships with new and more powerful units. Finland - First NATO base announced

Finland, which had long been non-aligned, joined Nato in April 2023 due to the Russian war of aggression against Ukraine. Now, almost a year and a half after joining, the establishment of the first Nato command base is announced in Mikkeli, around 230 kilometres north-east of the capital Helsinki and less than 150 kilometres from the Russian border. "Das Boot" - surfaced in Wilhelmshaven!

To be released in October 2024 - pre-order now! U 96 seems indestructible. After the book (1973) and film (1981) "Das Boot" was a hit with millions, its final chapter has now been revealed. The boat on which Lothar-Günther Buchheim collected his material for "Das Boot" as a war correspondent in autumn 1941 still exists, in Wilhelmshaven! Here, on the North Sea, U 96 was bombed shortly before the end of the war and a few years later, in 1948, its remains were used as filling material in the newly built Grodendamm.
