Event organised by JuMOV - Virtual Officers' Mess

Leadership - The power of communication Book review as part of the Virtual Officers' Mess What are our plans for the upcoming Virtual Officers' Mess of the Young MOV? Leadership is the most important aspect in the professional environment, the trigger for motivated employees, for innovation, for success and for personal satisfaction. And good leadership only works through clear communication - there can be no leadership without communication. We talk to Captain at Sea Axel Schrader about his latest book on this important topic. Traditional ships in Hamburg are looking for volunteers

NDR in Hamburg reported on 14 January 2023 that the operators of traditional ships are looking for new volunteers. "We need young talent in all areas, for all historic ships - and the harbour railway," said Claus Liesner, Chairman of the Board of the Hamburg Maritime Foundation (SHM). At times, around 2000 soldiers and 450 civilians served here. The naval base, like the weapons school in Ellenberg, was a major economic factor for the region. While...

Best prize awarded by MOV at the Naval Academy

I would like to share a few thoughts with you on the occasion of the presentation of the Naval Officers' Association's Best Training Award for the best training course for military officer at the Mürwik Naval Academy on 18 March 2022. The award is linked to important ideas of Admiral Johannesson, one of the founding fathers of our present-day navy, regarding the training of officers. Johannesson's ideas still guide us today. Since its establishment in 1955, our organisation has...
