MS&D: Maritime security a focus of the SMM

The maritime world is exposed to multiple threats, the armed conflicts in the Black and Red Seas being just two of them. Maritime security is an issue all over the world, and not just for the defence sectors. From piracy to illegal fishing: trade and free sea routes are under threat. Day of the sea rescuers

The German Maritime Search and Rescue Service (DGzRS) has been realising the rescue of human lives from distress at sea and dangerous situations in the German areas of the North Sea and Baltic Sea for 159 years. "Maritime Rescue Day" is held once a year on the last Sunday in July and each participating station offered its own programme on 28.07.2024. Norway goes Indo-Pacific

Germany is not alone in wanting to play a greater role in the Indo-Pacific.
