Rohde & Schwarz Emirates receives order for communication systems for new Gulf Navy corvettes

Rohde & Schwarz Emirates will equip the ships with NAVICS, an integrated, IP-based and fail-safe naval communications system that supports interoperability within the Gulf Cooperation Council. NAVICS will complement the existing external Line-of-Sight (VHF/UHF) and Beyond-Line-of-Sight (HF) communication solutions. In addition to external communication, NAVICS also ensures internal communication on board and guarantees a multi-level security architecture that enables secure, trustworthy and tamper-proof communication. VSM publishes association news

The German Shipbuilding and Ocean Industries Association VSM has published the 76th edition of its association news. In the foreword, Chief Executive Dr Reinhard Lüken strikes an alarming note. marineforum publishes the wording of his warning to politicians. Anniversary at mtu

mtu - Rolls-Royce looks back on 25 years with Series 2000 and 4000 In a press release, RR-mtu emphasises the sustainability of its old but efficient engine series. Not only do they want to move into a climate-neutral future with them, but they also have to develop them further, because there is no recognisable alternative to the "combustion engine" drive type on ships. Whether MAN, SAAB - Scania or other suppliers of diesel engines: the future of the companies depends on how we operate ships on the world's oceans. With over 100,000 engines sold and more than 320 million operating hours, the mtu Series 2000 and 4000 engines are reason to celebrate says...

Event review - electric propulsion systems for shipping Electric propulsion systems are the focus of numerous projects and initiatives, as they offer good economic and ecological prospects for the future of shipping due to their high levels of efficiency, among other things. Challenges are posed in particular by the current availability of fuel cell systems in the megawatt range or the storage capacity of battery systems. Current developments and projects were presented and discussed at the event "Wir fahren mit (dem) Strom - elektrische Antriebssysteme für die Schifffahrt", which took place on 14 October 2021 and was attended by almost 140 participants. Kerstin Broocks from guideLINE GmbH hosted the programme. Dr Susanne Neumann, Head of the...
