NATO: Sweden welcomed as 32nd member

This article was actually about the NATO manoeuvre Steadfast Defender 2024, which is currently appearing as a keyword on all news channels in Western and Central Europe. Actually - because on 7 March 2024, Sweden became the 32nd member of NATO when US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken handed over the certificate in Washington/DC. This is strategically no less important than the practical cohesion of troops and forces in the Alliance. In keeping with both events, there is spectacular footage of the Royal Navy from the North Norwegian Sea as an appropriately Nordic welcome backdrop, which we simply have to share with you. Welcome to Sweden! To the security policy background...

Black Sea Fleet: Russia loses Bykov-class corvette

The Ukrainian reconnaissance and special operations unit "Group 13" reported the sinking of another Russian naval vessel in the Black Sea on the night of 4 to 5 March 2024 not far from the Kerch Bridge. This strategic link from the Russian mainland of the Krasnodar region to the Crimean peninsula is the most important supply route for the Russian occupying forces in Crimea and southern Ukraine. The area is another 250 kilometres away from the sea areas off Sevastopol, where the missile corvette "Ivanovets" (Nanuchka-II, 1 February 2024) and the landing ship "Caesar Kunikov" (Ropucha, 14 February 2024) have already been sunk by drone-based swarm attacks. Finland: Alexander Stubb elected President

The result of the Finnish presidential election run-off on 11 February 2024 leaves no room for doubt; the country's military non-alignment is definitely over and Finnish voters are fully committed to their NATO membership and transatlantic security. Alexander Stubb, former Prime Minister and member of the conservative National Coalition Party (KOK), narrowly secured victory ahead of Pekka Haavisto of the Green Party. Haavisto played a key role in the accession process and as foreign minister signed Finland's historic accession treaty to NATO last year. Against the backdrop of Russia's brutal war of aggression against Ukraine, both candidates agreed that Finland...
