Corvette "Oldenburg" back from UN deployment

Warnemünde - Today, Tuesday, 30 January 2024, the corvette "Oldenburg" returned to her home base in Warnemünde after a deployment of more than six months. The Class 130 ship left its home port 170 days ago with its crew under the command of Corvette Captain Markus Schwefer (38) to take part in the mandated foreign mission UNIFIL (United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon) off the Lebanese coast and as the flagship in the NATO support mission in the Aegean. In his final review, the commander summarised with satisfaction. He can look back on a long, intensive and varied time in the various operational areas in the Mediterranean, each with their own different challenges.

German Navy at the boot-Düsseldorf

Rostock - From 20 to 28 January 2024, the German Navy will be exhibiting at the world's largest and most important international boat show, the "boot" in Düsseldorf. A sailing cutter, a team of mine divers showing how they work in a diving tower and members of the German Navy's Special Forces Command (KSM) will be there. In daily demonstrations, interested visitors can observe the work under water, visit the cutter and get in touch with the German Navy's servicemen and women. Red Sea: Houthi attack on US destroyer

At around 2.45 p.m. (CET) on 14 January 2024, there was an attack on a US Navy ship in the sea area off Hodeidah. According to reports from US Central Command, the missile fired at the "USS Laboon" (DDG 58, 1st batch, in service since 1995) was intercepted and neutralised by an unidentified US fighter aircraft. There was no evidence of damage to people or material. The missile was fired from a Houthi-controlled area in south-west Yemen.
