"Spessart" joins SNMG 1

Despite their advanced age, the two tankers of the "Rhön" class are still needed to supply units at sea. On Monday, the "Spessart" left its home port to initially carry out some training projects. To this end, instructors from the Navy's Damage Prevention Training Centre in Neustadt were on board. They brought the civilian crew under Captain Rolf-Heinrich von Bebern (53) up to speed. Minehunting boat Datteln runs out

A new mission for the DATTELN: on 12 January, the 45 men and women cast off from their home port of Kiel to set course for the North Sea. There, the boat will become part of the Standing NATO Mine Countermeasures Group 1 (SNMCMG 1). New Commodore of MFG 5

After just one and a half years as Commodore, Frigate Captain Jan Richard Keller (48) is leaving Naval Air Wing 5. On 11 January, Kapitän zur See Thorsten Bobzin will hand over command of the entire naval helicopter fleet and the almost 1,300 soldiers and civilian employees of MFG 5 to Frigate Captain Carsten Holtgreve (50). Holtgreve has already served as Commander of the Technical Group in MFG 5 and Head of the Logistics Department in the Naval Aviation Command. Farewell for months

On 7 January, the tender WERRA set course for the eastern Mediterranean to relieve the frigate BRANDENBURG as the flagship of Standing NATO Maritime Group Two (SNMG 2). The seventy or so crew members had already been in the currently prescribed quarantine for days.
