Congressional report: Replacement for US Navy cruisers and destroyers

DDG(X) Future Large Surface Combatant Programme: Background and Issues for Congress. The Congressional Research Service report was submitted to Congress on 13 January 2021. This is the procurement programme for the next generation of guided-missile destroyers (DDGs) to replace the TICONDEROGA (CG-47)-class Aegis cruisers and the older ARLEIGH BURKE (DDG-51)-class Aegis destroyers. Autonomous car ferry!

Mitsubishi unveils successful test Japanese shipbuilder Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) announced that it has conducted the first test of an autonomously navigating large car ferry. The demonstration of the project took place this week off the coast of Shinmoji in Kitakyushu City, Japan, in support of MEGURI 2040, a project sponsored by the Nippon Foundation to develop fully autonomous vessels.
