Further air refuelling by the MQ-25 T1

On 18 August, Boeing conducted another successful test with its MQ-25 T1 drone. The unmanned aircraft is to be used as a refuelling aircraft on the US Navy's aircraft carriers and is currently still under development. Following the first refuelling of an F/A-18 at the beginning of June, the other aircraft deployed on US aircraft carriers now also took on fuel in the air. The E-2D is used for forward reconnaissance and the guidance of mission aircraft. According to Boeing, the crew of the E-2D first checked the stability of the drone in order to establish a refuelling connection. Fuel could then be transferred to the "customer". The MQ-25...

The new equipment is intended to bring about a significant increase in performance across the entire spectrum of missions, including tactical reconnaissance, air combat, engagement of sea and ground targets, close air support for ground troops and combating enemy aircraft.

Sea trials of the Magadan

The Russian Navy has begun sea trials of the latest Project 636.3 submarine. Over the next few days, the boat's entire technical equipment, including the sonar and navigation systems, will undergo a thorough inspection. The diesel-electric powered boat will also complete deep-sea dives. Its manoeuvrability at different depths will also be assessed. Once the tests have been completed, the Magadan will return to the Admiralty shipyard where it was built. Any defects will be rectified there in the following weeks. In recent months, the shipyard itself had already carried out extensive sea trials with the newcomer. On 1 November 2019, the Magadan was...

Climate protection concerns us all

As the current events of rampant forest fires, heat waves and heavy rainfall show, climate change is the greatest threat to humanity. MTU, the Power Systems division of Rolls-Royce, has set itself the goal of being climate-neutral by 2050 and is committed to the Paris Climate Agreement. To this end, the Sustainable Power Solutions business unit was established with the Net Zero programme to bring solutions for a sustainable energy and propulsion future to the market. Naval forces, coast guards and other authorities rely on diesel engines from MTU, which are designed to meet the complex requirements of naval vessels. In recent years, various innovations have already helped to reduce exhaust emissions from...
