Today, Tuesday 30 March 2021, the Commanding Officer Support, Rear Admiral Christoph Müller-Meinhard (56), handed over command of the Naval NCO School (MUS) from Captain Matthias Kähler (64) to Captain Klaus Heermeier (61) in front of the school's traditional mast. After 46 years of service in the armed forces, the last six of which as Commandant of the Naval NCO School, Captain Kähler can look back on a varied career as a naval officer. The frigate Sachsen-Anhalt was handed over to the Federal Office of Bundeswehr Equipment, Information Technology and In-Service Support (BAAINBw) at a small ceremony today due to the pandemic. She is the third ship of the F 125 class and was built and delivered by the F 125 consortium, consisting of Thyssenkrupp Marine Systems and Fr. On board in Wilhelmshaven, the BAAINBw was represented by the head of the acceptance commission, Matthias Rohde, and the responsible project manager Marc Steffen. Raytheon Missiles & Defence delivered the first Tomahawk Block V to the US Navy last week. The new variant has improved navigation and communication systems. The Navy only completed its tests with the new weapon in December 2020. The missile can be fired from submarines and ships. It can be used to engage targets up to 1800 kilometres away with high precision. Since the introduction of Block IV, the Tomahawk has maintained a constant data link to the firing ship. This means that it is still possible to change targets during the flight. Circling for several hours in an assigned area is also possible.

After three years, Frigate Captain Torsten Eidam has handed over command of the support squadron to Frigate Captain Uwe Lahl. Eidam is moving to the naval command in Rostock to work on the conceptual planning of the navy. With Frigate Captain Lahl, another experienced naval officer is taking over the squadron. He can look back on assignments as commander of a fast patrol boat, deputy commander of the corvette squadron and consultant in the planning department of the Federal Ministry of Defence in Berlin.
