Spain's government has given the green light for the stationing of two more US Navy ships, bringing the number of US destroyers stationed in Rota to six. In 2014, the USA began stationing a total of four Arleigh Burke-class destroyers (DDG 51-119, max. 9700 tonnes displacement) permanently in Europe. The Hamburg-based shipping company Hapag-Lloyd says it is working on plans for cargo ships with sail propulsion. Specifically, this involves container ships with a length of around 260 metres and a capacity of 4,500 containers. A total of eight masts will be distributed between the container stacks, four on the port side and four on the starboard side.
