Russian "Yasen" class attack submarines with hypersonic weapons from 2026
The "Yasen" class (Project 885/885M, 133 metres, 12,000 tonnes submerged) is the benchmark for Russia's nuclear-powered attack submarines. The type boat K-560 "Severodvinsk" has been on its keel for 30 years, but the subsequently modified M-boats only followed a good 15 years later. Construction numbers 2 and 3, K-561 "Kazan" and K-573 "Novosibirsk", are already in service with the Northern Fleet - the following three boats, K-571 "Krasnoyarsk", K-564 "Arkhangelsk" and "Perm", are to be assigned to the Pacific Fleet, with K-571 currently undergoing its functional trials with the Northern Fleet.
