Argentina also defends itself against Chinese fishermen

New French-built patrol vessels deployed The Argentine Navy has deployed its two newest offshore patrol vessels (OPVs), ARA Bouchard (P-51) and ARA Piedrabuena (P-52), to monitor an international fishing fleet travelling in the South Atlantic near the country's economic zone (EEZ). RSS Invincible reports back for sea trials

On 3 February 2022, TKMS continued the shipyard trials of the first class 218SG submarine with shallow water trials of the RSS Invincible. The 70-metre-long AIP submarine, which displaces 2,200 tonnes when submerged, spent 11 hours in the Kiel Bight sea area before mooring again at ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems (tkms) in Kiel at night. According to observers, the next step on the programme after successful tests is to move the submarine to the Skagerrak, where the deep-water test section is to be completed. How Irish fishermen took action against the Russian fleet....

.... and won The action shows how civil outrage can force governments to act. In this case, it was a Russian naval manoeuvre. One group has now shown how to do it. When Russia announced its intention to carry out manoeuvres with warships off the Irish coast, Irish fishermen developed such an effective deterrent that the Russian navy cancelled the exercise. The exercise was originally due to take place in Ireland's fishing and economic zone from 3 February. Irish officials announced that the exercise was "unwelcome and undesirable", but were apparently unable to convince their Russian counterparts to cancel it.

The US Navy's newest base is now in Poland! The first crew members have moved into their accommodation and facilities. The move into the 50 million dollar multi-purpose building at the Naval Support Facility Redzikowo took place on Thursday. The strategic facility in northern Poland is part of NATO's European missile defence system. The NSF Redzikowo is located around 120 kilometres west of Gdansk on the Baltic coast.
