Die zukünftigen britischen Fregatten des Typs 31 haben Namen erhalten. Admiral Tony Radakin, First Sea Lord and Chief of the Naval Staff, gab am 19. Mai bekannt, dass die fünf geplanten Schiffe die Bezeichnung Inspiration Class erhalten sollen. Die Einheiten werden Active, Bulldog, Campbeltown, Formidable und Venturer heißen und damit die Werte und den Anspruch der Royal Navy reflektieren. Gebaut werden die zuvor auch als General Purpose Frigate bekannten Schiffe von Babcock und sollen 2027 zur Marine stoßen. Bei einer Länge von 139 Metern verdrängen sie 5700 Tonnen. Die Deutsche Marine kann auf ein erfolgreiches Flugkörperschießen zurückblicken. Zwischen dem 3. und 12. Mai gelangen der Besatzung der Fregatte Hamburg während der Missile Firing Exercise 2021 vor der norwegischen Küste 20 erfolgreiche Schüsse mit Lenkflugkörpern. Drohnen dienten dabei als Ziele um die Luftverteidigungsanlagen und Waffensysteme zu prüfen und der Besatzung Gelegenheit zu geben, unter realistischen Bedingungen die Verfahrensabläufe zu trainieren. Weitere Flugkörper wurden gegen simulierte Seeziele eingesetzt. Rolls-Royce to supply mtu gensets for Constellation frigates Rolls-Royce has been awarded a contract to supply mtu-branded naval gensets for the first phase of the US Constellation-class frigate newbuilding programme (FFG-62). The US Navy project was formerly known as the FFG(X) programme. Specifically, Rolls-Royce has been contracted to supply four mtu marine gensets, each rated at 3000 kWe at 1800 rpm, for the first ship of the new class. MTU Maintenance Berlin-Brandenburg has been awarded a contract by the US Department of Defence for the repair and maintenance of LM2500 turbines. The turbines used in the Arleigh Burke and Ticonderoga class ships are to be repaired and overhauled in Ludwigsfelde, south of Berlin, by June 2027. MTU is sharing the contract worth almost 68 million dollars with Air New Zealand Gas Turbines, a subsidiary of the airline of the same name based in Auckland, New Zealand.
