German Federal Council President visits general contractor for the F126 naval armaments project

Manuela Schwesig, Minister President of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, visited the Dutch naval shipyard Damen Naval in Vlissingen on 11 March 2024 as part of a delegation trip by the German Federal Council. She was informed about the maritime industry in the Netherlands and German-Dutch cooperation in the field of shipbuilding and defence technology. She paid particular attention to the F 126 project. The Peene shipyard in Wolgast, one of the three shipyards where the future German Navy frigates will be built, is located in her federal state. Eigentlich galt dieser Beitrag dem NATO-Manöver Steadfast Defender 2024, das derzeit als "Keyword" in West- und Mitteleuropa auf allen Nachrichtenkanälen erscheint. Eigentlich – denn am 7. März 2024 ist Schweden durch die Aushändigung der Urkunde in Washington/DC durch den US-Außenminister Anthony Blinken als 32. Mitglied in die NATO  aufgenommen worden. Das ist strategisch nicht weniger wichtig, wie die praktisch geübte Kohäsion der Truppen und Kräfte in der Allianz. Die ukrainische Aufklärungs- und Spezialoperations-Einheit "Group 13" vermeldete die Versenkung eines weiteren russischen Marineschiffes im Schwarzen Meer in der Nacht vom 4. auf den 5. März 2024 unweit der Kertsch-Brücke. Über diese strategische Verbindung vom russischen Festland der Region Krasnodar zur Halbinsel Krim führt die wichtigste Versorgungsroute der russischen Besatzungstruppen auf der Krim und in der südlichen Ukraine. From a press release by the NVL Group The second naval supply vessel (MBV 707) for the German Navy was launched at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg on 29 February 2024 in the presence of naval representatives and project participants. The new military supply vessels will replace the existing RHÖN-class units in the future with the sister ship that was laid down in the middle of last year. Both naval tankers are being built under the leadership of the NVL Group in cooperation with the Meyer Group in Rostock.
