Concert at the Mürwik Naval Academy

A great success, also in terms of donations! It was to be a wonderful evening. A charity concert was to take place in July against the unique historical backdrop of the Mürwik Naval School, the mother house of German naval officers. But the approaching hurricane worried the organisers and the concert was cancelled. And now, finally, it really was a wonderful evening. The 700 or so guests only had to endure a few drops of rain. But that was a minor matter on the school grounds. The musical performances by the Kiel Naval Music Corps under the direction of Lieutenant Captain Inga Hilsberg were a delight. And so the handover of the donations was...

Defence Commissioner: "Seafaring produces questions that are special"

From a Bundeswehr press release On 15 August, Bundestag Parliamentary Commissioner for the Armed Forces Eva Högl visited the naval command in Rostock. Here she held talks with the Inspector of the Navy, Vice Admiral Jan Christian Kaack, as well as with ordinary servicemen and women. She explains to the Navy editorial team how she perceives the special features of the naval forces. We have several branches of the armed forces in the Bundeswehr, all with their own special features. But how can the navy deal with challenges such as personnel shortages, demographic change and the expectations of potential applicants? There are issues in the Bundeswehr that are similar in all branches of the armed forces and organisational areas. And then, of course, there are...

Galileo SAR Meet in Nordholz a complete success

The search and rescue pilots' meeting took place at the naval air base in Nordholz from 24 August to 28 August 2023. The fly-in on Thursday already gave an idea of what visitors to this year's event can expect. In addition to the guests and their helicopters from Belgium and the Czech Republic, among others, the naval aviators presented their "Sea King" in a special livery, reminiscent of the early days of search and rescue aviation in the German Navy. In addition to the static display, various flights and a symposium took place. The highlight was the "Family Day" on Saturday. And there were not only helicopters to see here: Pony rides, a bouncy castle and games for employees and...
