Public prosecutor's office investigates Damen Shipyards

Is the defence sector affected? At the end of April 2025, the Dutch public prosecutor's office publicised its investigation into Damen Shipyards and former executives. There is suspicion of corruption and discrepancies in procurement contracts. Investigators from the Dutch Financial Investigation and Prosecution Service (Fiscale Inlichtingen- en Opsporingsdienst, FIOD) allege that unclear payments were made to intermediaries for ship sales in Africa, Asia and South America between 2006 and 2017. TKMS and Ulstein Werft want to work together

Further step in German-Norwegian cooperation thyssenkrupp Marine Systems and the Norwegian Ulstein Verft signed a letter of intent at the Undersea Defence Technology (UDT) trade fair in Oslo to strengthen industrial cooperation in Norway. The aim is to combine the capabilities of both shipyards. The letter of intent of 26 March is an important step towards strengthening industrial cooperation between Germany and Norway. New customs ship with gas propulsion

Peene shipyard delivers customs vessel The Peene shipyard in Wolgast handed over the first of three new customs vessels to German customs yesterday. Planning, design and production were completed on schedule. The ship has an LNG (liquid natural gas) propulsion system and was transferred to Emden before being handed over. The specialists at Anschütz in Kiel have developed a navigation and deployment system for autonomous and unmanned naval operations. According to the press release, they have utilised proven and available components. Extensive tests have shown that precise and safe autonomous navigation, control and operation of unmanned platforms is possible. The system allows remote control by a tactical operations centre, e.g. a land station or a mother ship. Anschütz can also realise mobile container solutions for this purpose.
