Mitsubishi stellt erfolgreichen Test vor Der japanische Schiffbauer Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) gab bekannt, dass der erste Test einer autonom navigierenden großen Autofähre durchgeführt wurde. Die Demonstration des Projektes fand diese Woche vor der Küste von Shinmoji in Kitakyushu City, Japan, statt und diente der Unterstützung von MEGURI 2040, einem von der Nippon Foundation geförderten Projekt zur Entwicklung vollständig autonomer Schiffe. The three ships were built by the Norwegians (United European Car Carriers, UECC) in quick succession at the Jiangnan shipyard in China. The launching of construction number H 2665 took place on 28 December, just seven months after the keel was laid and follows the recent final delivery of the first newbuilding, named AUTO ADVANCE, the second and third of which are to be delivered in the first half of this year.
