Even those who need no more convincing of the flight and manoeuvrability of the single-engine F-35A Lightning II must be allowed to watch this video from this year's Pacific Airshow on 30 September over Huntington Beach in California south of Los Angeles! The U.S. Marine Corps and the U.S. Navy are more likely to be flying the F-35B and F-35C, but they are the same aircraft types. On Friday, 6 October 2023, a double change of command took place in the 2nd Frigate Squadron. Under overcast skies and in almost autumnal temperatures, Frigate Captain Jan Fitschen (45) was replaced after three and a half years in command of the frigate HAMBURG by Frigate Captain Andreas Schmidt (42), who had previously handed over command of the frigate SCHLESWIG-HOLSTEIN to Frigate Captain Bastian Saphörster (42). The squadron commander, Captain Olliver Pfenning (48), emphasised the special nature of this double handover in his speeches. On the one hand it was a "burden sharing", on the other a "win-win situation". Aus einer Pressemitteilung der ARGE Hochenergielaser Marinedemonstrator: Nach der Integration des Laserwaffendemonstrators (LWD) auf der Fregatte 124 „SACHSEN“ im Juni 2022 wurde die Erprobung des LWD auf See erfolgreich abgeschlossen. Verantwortlich für die Entwicklung und den Bau des LWD sowie die Unterstützung der vom BAAINBw (Bundesamt für Ausrüstung, Informationstechnik und Nutzung der Bundeswehr) geplanten und organisierten Erprobungskampagnen ist die Arbeitsgemeinschaft (ARGE) Hochenergielaser Marinedemonstrator, bestehend aus MBDA Deutschland GmbH und Rheinmetall Waffe Munition GmbH. Aus einer Pressemitteilung des PIZ beim Marinekommando Rostock: Am Freitag, den 29. September 2023, übergibt der Kommandeur Einsatzkräfte und Abteilungsleiter Operation aus dem Marinekommando, Flottillenadmiral Stephan Haisch (56), in der Marine-Kaserne Neustadt i.H. das Kommando über das Einsatzausbildungszentrum Schadensabwehr der Marine (EAZS M) von Kapitän zur See Eckardt Menzel (62) an Fregattenkapitän Jörg Mascow (54). Nach 43 Jahren und einem Monat beim Militär, davon die letzten sechs Jahre als Kommandeur in Neustadt, geht Kapitän zur See Menzel nun in den Ruhestand.
