Investment in mine defence

Now the Federal Office of Bundeswehr Equipment, Information Technology and In-Service Support (BAAINBw) has created facts. A contract worth 44 million euros has been signed with Atlas Elektronik for the procurement of additional command and weapon deployment systems for the minehunting boats. The minehunting boats DILLINGEN, HOMBURG, SULZBACH-ROSENBERG, FULDA and WEILHEIM of the Frankenthal class (MJ332) will be equipped with the latest version of the IMCMS (Integrated Mine Countermeasures System) command and weapon deployment system between 2022 and 2025.

Contract signed for U 212CD

On 8 July, the Federal Office of Bundeswehr Equipment, Information Technology and In-Service Support (BAAINBw) and the Norwegian Defence Material Agency signed a contract with Thyssenkrupp Marine Systems for the construction and delivery of a total of six U 212CD (Common Design) class submarines. Four of the identical boats will be delivered to Norway and two to Germany. The contract is worth 5.5 billion euros and is the largest order that the Kiel shipyard has ever landed. New fuel suppliers under contract

The Friedrich Lürssen shipyard in Bremen has been commissioned to build the two new fuel transporters for the German Navy. The new units, class designation 707, are to replace the ageing "Rhön" and "Spessart" from 2024. Lürssen states that it is working together with Meyer Werft on the construction. Successful last-minute manoeuvre

Almost nine billion euros for the German Navy In the last session before the summer break and therefore the last session before the Bundestag elections in autumn, the Bundestag Budget Committee released funds for 27 armaments projects worth almost 20 billion euros.
