China decommissions frigate

The Chinese navy has the frigate Dandong (543) was decommissioned. The crew members took part in a ceremony to bid farewell to their unit, which had been part of the fleet for 36 years. It was only last year that the Dandong set a new record in the Chinese navy when she was at sea for 103 days continuously as part of a patrol.
The Dandong belongs to the 053H1 class, a Chinese in-house development. It was commissioned in 1985 and was subordinate to the Southern Theatre Command. At around 103 metres in length, the slender ships displace 1457 tonnes. In addition to a 100-millimetre cannon and two RBU-1200 ASW missile launchers, the frigates also carry six SY-1 missiles to engage sea targets.
