The Commander of the Fleet and Support Forces and Deputy to the Chief of Naval Operations, Rear Admiral Jan Christian Kaack (59), will take part in the Munich Security Conference (MSC) from 18 - 20 February 2022. The current security situation with a focus on the Ukraine/Russia crisis will be a key topic. In the run-up to this, Rear Admiral Kaack, who is also currently acting as Inspector of the German Navy, spoke in an interview about the German Navy's commitment to the Alliance and answered three fundamental questions:

1. when you are asked by your counterparts at the MSC about the German Navy's commitment to NATO, about alliance solidarity, what do you say?

2) Even before the deployment of Russian armed forces on Ukraine's borders, Russia was already pursuing an aggressive foreign policy. Aren't the increased activities of the navy coming too late today?

3) Following the breach of international law by Russia, the annexation of Crimea, the inspector of the navy launched the Baltic Commanders Conference back in 2015. Are there any concrete results that can be attributed to this consultation format?
