After a delay of several years, the first ship of the US Coast Guard's newest class was christened.
The christening and launching of the first unit of the US Coast Guard (USCG) HERITAGE class took place on 27 October at the Eastern Shipbuilding shipyard in Panama City, Florida.
The name of the new class reflects the fact that all units are named after historic Coast Guard vessels. The USCGC ARGUS, for example, bears the name of one of the first ten customs ships in the USA.
