Earlier than planned
The storm depression Ylenia accompanied the Bavarians on the last nautical miles before entering the harbour, which was planned for 4 p.m. today. In order to avoid the even more dangerous storm depression Zeynep, the decision was made at short notice to reach the 4th entrance earlier. At 2.30 p.m. the time had come: to the sound of the Naval Music Corps, the frigate docked in her home port after 43,000 nautical miles.
Celebrities were also on board. The Parliamentary State Secretary from the Federal Ministry of Defence, Siemtje Möller, and the Deputy Inspector General of the Bundeswehr, Lieutenant General Markus Laubenthal, had already boarded the ship on the Jade for the arrival and had personally welcomed the ship and crew home. Also on board was Rear Admiral Jürgen zur Mühlen, Head of Operations from the Naval Command. After a short press conference on the flight deck, at which MdB Siemtje Möller emphasised the achievements of the crew and the importance of security policy, frigate captain Thilo Kalski was delighted with the warm welcome (original sound).
Then the time had finally come: the waiting relatives came onto the flight deck and into the hangar to embrace their loved ones again. Just in time, because heavy rain showers heralded Zeynep's departure.
