Naval operations school under new command

From a press release by the Rostock Naval Command

On Wednesday, 8 May 2024, Rear Admiral Christoph Müller-Meinhard, Commander Support and Head of the Operational Support Department, handed over command of the Naval Operations School (MOS) from Captain Jens Grimm (54) to Captain Andreas Martin Seidl (59).

Captain Grimm took command of the school in 2021. "The past 2.5 years have been characterised by the turnaround and its impact on training. I am grateful that, together with the dedicated people at the Naval Operations School, I was able to make a contribution to consistently aligning our training with the requirements of national and alliance defence again," said the outgoing commander. "It was great to see how the troops tackle and move things forward, even if the general conditions are not always ideal," he continued. Grimm will become head of the new planning and command staff of the Federal Ministry of Defence in Berlin in 2023.

His successor, Kapitän zur See Seidl, was the deputy commander and chief of staff of Operational Flotilla 2 in Wilhelmshaven for six years. "I'm looking forward to the tasks at the MOS, even though I have no experience of school operations other than as a course participant," said the new commander. His successor as Chief of Staff of Operational Flotilla 2 is Captain Sven Beck (52), who has returned to his military home in Wilhelmshaven from the BMVg Planning Department.
