The corvette of the class K 130 II. Lot was launched on o4. May 2023 as construction number 7 of the Braunschweig class at the traditional Hamburg shipyard Blohm & Voss, which has belonged to Lürssen Defence since 2016 and is now part of the NVL Group, was christened "Emden" by Ms Annette Lehnigk-Emden. The traditional name has had a special resonance in the navy since the days of the small cruiser "Emden" from the time of the First World War. The old class 122 frigate "Emden" had been decommissioned almost 10 years earlier. The name is back, but the navy will probably be waiting for the unit until 2026.

In March and April, the boat mainly carried out shipyard trials in the Bay of Kiel and the western Baltic Sea. The current test phase is taking the corvette FGS "Emden" to the Skagerrak and waters off Norway. The boat arrived in Bergen on 18 May 2025.
