After 80 days, the French amphibious group centred around the helicopter carrier Dixmude left the Gulf of Guinea. On board the carrier are the French Groupe tactique embarqué (GTE) Dragon and Portuguese Fuzileiros. They were deployed off the African coast as part of the 156th mandate of Operation Corymbe. The aim of the operation is to monitor fishing activities on the one hand and to combat piracy in this sea area on the other. In addition, the Dixmude took part in multinational manoeuvres. Together with Senegalese forces, they practised at Xaritoo 2021, while the American-led Obangame Express was multinational. Exercise Elefant 21 was carried out in cooperation with French forces from Côte d'Ivoire and Senegalese soldiers. Deployment with European partners was also practised as part of the Neptune naval exercise. Spanish, French and Portuguese forces brought the concept of coordinated naval presences to life.
From October to December 2020, the Dixmude during the 154th mandate in the Gulf of Guinea. A few days ago, the ship was able to announce that it had put a total of 300,000 nautical miles under its keel since it was commissioned on 10 January 2021.
