The Global Mercy, the largest civilian hospital ship in the world, docked in Rotterdam on 26 February.
The "Global Mercy" is the largest civilian hospital ship in the world. It was planned and built by Mercy Ships. This enabled us to ensure that the "Global Mercy" is perfectly equipped for its mission: to bring free operations and treatment of the highest standard to people who do not have access to it. The Global Mercy is also a training centre where medical staff can be trained. Through training, we want to strengthen the healthcare systems in our countries of operation and pass on expertise. Today and over the next two weeks, we are celebrating the arrival of the Global Mercy in Rotterdam. From 28 February to 14 March, the ship can be visited on site or virtually.
The magazine MarineForum is published ten times a year. The publication of the Naval Officers' Association (MOV) is published by the German Maritime Institute (DMI). It is independent, non-partisan and is neither directly nor indirectly supported by ministries or other German authorities. This independence gives the magazine the character of a forum in which contradictory opinions are also discussed.
