The Chinese navy has rebuilt its frigate Zhaotong (555) was decommissioned on 26 April. She was one of the last ships of the Jianghu-II-class (type 053 H1). These purely Chinese products were designed and produced in the 1980s. With a length of 103 metres, the approximately 10-metre-wide units displaced only around 1600 tonnes.
The decommissioning ceremony took place at the Sanya naval base. The ship joined the Chinese navy in 1987 and has travelled more than 230,000 nautical miles over the past 34 years.
