Captain at sea Eckhard Bödecker hands over the school to Captain at sea Jens Grimm
As of today, Friday 20 August 2021, the Naval Operations School (MOS) Bremerhaven is under new leadership. Rear Admiral Christoph Müller-Meinhard (57), Commander Support and Head of the Operational Support Department at the Naval Command, handed over command from Captain Eckhard Bödeker (61) to Captain Jens Grimm (51). The military ceremony was accompanied by the Wilhelmshaven Naval Music Corps, which demonstrated its new strength after a long struggle. Among the high-ranking guests from society, politics and the Bundeswehr were representatives of the city of Bremerhaven, all of the Navy's school commanders and long-standing friends and companions.
The handover ceremony took place on a smaller scale than usual due to the pandemic. After the formal handover of the school and reception in the assembly hall, the new commander of the school was appointed as the senior officer of the Bremerhaven site.
The Naval Operations School has been responsible for the specialised training of naval "operators" for decades. The school also includes the naval tactics centre, a training hall for "survival at sea" training for flying personnel and a branch of the Federal Language Office. Captain Eckhard Bödecker is transferred to NATO's Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe (SHAPE) in Brussels. The new commander, Kapitän zur See Grimm, who is still remembered in the Navy as commander of the 1st UGschw, leaves the Federal Ministry of Defence. For the last 3 years, he was Adjutant to the Inspector General.
