MCN - Positive developments despite the pandemic

General meeting of the Maritime Cluster Northern Germany.

Growing membership figures, a revised strategy and a focus on the topic of sustainability - at the general meeting of the Maritime Cluster Northern Germany e. V. (MCN) the Executive Board and management reported on the activities and results of the current and previous year.

Due to coronavirus, the meeting was held virtually on 6 September 2021. Around 100 people took part. The areas of action networking, innovation, human resources, knowledge and technology transfer and internationalisation were MCN successfully organised various activities in the past year. Many of these activities were carried out virtually.

With the project launched this month GreenOffshoreTech the MCN develop sustainable, green innovations together in a European network. "The project focuses on our small and medium-sized member companies, whose innovative solutions contribute to the realisation of the Green Deal in the maritime industry. In doing so, we are making an important contribution to realising the goals of the EU Commission's 'Fit for 55' plan," said Jessica Wegener.

In addition, this year the Maritime Cluster Northern Germany is awarding the MCN Cup. In four award categories, exciting innovation approaches from the MCN-Members from science and industry were honoured. A special focus of the MCN Cups focuses on the opportunities and potential of sustainability along the entire maritime value chain. The award ceremony will take place on 23 November 2021.
