Release in a divine service on board

On Tuesday 14 November, the Protestant military pastor Dr Katja Bruns was relieved of her duties by the Protestant military dean Ernst Raunig on the "Bonn" task force provider. The farewell service was held in the presence of Dr Katja Bruns' family and the leaders of Operational Flotilla 2. In his address, Military Dean Ernst Raunig emphasised the merits of the outgoing military pastor. She always sought the measure of the possible in all tasks and thus emphasised the importance of the Protestant faith representation as a constant and valued partner of the executives in the Wilhelmshaven area. She not only led her office ashore but also spent a lot of time at sea. In his welcoming address, the commander of the Wilhelmshaven naval base, frigate captain Rolf Hoppe, emphasised the commitment of the mother of two daughters to the German Navy. When a ship MV "Verity" sank in the German Bight not far from Wilhelmshaven a few weeks ago, Katja Bruns was at his side and supported the command of the base. She strengthened the network in Wilhelmshaven within the psychosocial network.

Last but not least, the commander of the task force provider "Bonn", frigate captain Eike Deußen, addressed his words of thanks to Dr Katja Bruns. She took part in a total of three foreign deployments of the "Bonn". The friendly atmosphere was emphasised during the greeting and the musical accompaniment of the quintet, seconded from the Wilhelmshaven Naval Music Corps, with the well-known and fitting piece of music "With a little help from my friends". Dr Katja Bruns was the one who assisted the commander in one of the most difficult situations of a unit commander when he was confronted with the tragic death of a crew member in the run-up to a voyage. She was quickly embarked with a peer team and looked after the soldiers on board.

Military pastor Dr Katja Bruns will take up her duties in her new post not far from Flotilla 2, with the naval aviators in Nordholz.

From now on, marineforum wishes you "many happy landings"!
