At the Wilhelmshaven naval base, Flotilla Admiral Sven Beck the command of frigate captain Rolf Hoppe to Frigate Captain Sebastian Uhle handed over. Hoppe proudly looks back on the logistical achievements of his command, in particular the support of the travelling fleet and the contribution to the growth of the navy, including the establishment of the Wilhelmshaven training protection company. He emphasised the close ties between the Bundeswehr, the city and the population that had made these developments possible. „Looking back on the past period, it fills me with pride as Commander of the Naval Base Command how my employees have ensured the logistical support of the fleet underway and at the same time played a significant role in the growth of the navy, including the establishment of the Wilhelmshaven training protection company and the associated implementation of basic training,“ summarises Frigate Captain Hoppe. He is now moving to the Ministry of Defence. His successor Uhle, previously security policy spokesman at the German EU representation in Brussels, is taking on a role in Wilhelmshaven for the first time and is grateful and motivated for his new responsibility. „Although I am humbled by this task, I am also very much looking forward to taking on my new area of responsibility,“ says Frigate Captain Uhle.
