The Belgian offshore wind farm operator Parkwind recently began testing a charging station for ships, which is connected to its own wind farm "Nobelwind" via a transformer station. The electricity is supplied by 50 wind turbines installed 47 kilometres off the Belgian coast.
The technology, developed by UK company MJR, automatically connects and disconnects vessels to the charging station, according to MJR, a specialist electrical power and automation systems engineering company based in the UK. The company offers turnkey solutions and services for commercial shipping,
