Rhön back!

The fuel transporter "Rhön" is expected to return to its home port of Wilhelmshaven on Saturday, 31 August 2024.

The ship took part in the Standing NATO Maritime Group 1 (SNMG 1) as the German contribution to the Very High Readiness Joint Task Force Maritime (VJTF M) from 1 April 2024. The operational area was the North Sea, Baltic Sea and North Atlantic. The "Rhön", as a floating refuelling station, ensured the supply of fuel for the participating NATO partners. This contribution significantly increased the sea endurance and endurance of the SNMG 1, as well as effectively supporting the VJTF M's ability to act and its high level of readiness. The "Rhön" and its crew travelled over 22,000 nautical miles (approximately 41,000 km) during the five-month deployment. The ship arrives in Wilhelmshaven with 39 crew members. These include soldiers who supported the civilian-crewed ship during the voyage.
