Russia's aircraft carrier now „old iron“ after all?

The Ecuadorian news portal El Universo reported towards the end of February, citing a Russian source, that the decision to decommission the aircraft carrier „Admiral Kuznetsov“ had been made in Moscow. After more than eight years in the shipyard and more than a billion dollars in costs, it no longer made sense to revitalise a completely outdated carrier.

This would make Russia the first permanent member of the UN Security Council not to have a carrier in its fleet. But what is the UN when there is a „Board of Peace“ under Donald J. Trump? And another thing: Moscow is looking into the possibility of repairing the damaged PD-50 floating dock in return. What for, when you no longer have a carrier? Perhaps for the American Trump class - as a gesture of support between friends?
