Russian submarine awaits launch

The Russian Ministry of Defence reports that on 30 July the submarine Krasnoyarsk will be launched. The ceremony in Severodvinsk will be conducted by the Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Navy, Admiral Nikolai Yevmenov. The Krasnoyarsk is a boat of the Jasen -M-class (Project 885M) is categorised by the Russians as an underwater missile cruiser. As the third boat of the Jasen-She was laid down in 2014. The submarines, which displace 8,600 tonnes and are 130 metres long, are powered by a pressurised water reactor. In addition to ten torpedo tubes with a diameter of 533 millimetres, the armament includes eight vertical launchers for cruise missiles of the Oniks or Kalibr type. According to the Russian news agency Tass, the commissioning of the Krasnoyarsk planned for the end of 2022.
