Sea Lynx: 40 years in service

..... and suddenly the sky was black

On 8 September 1981, the pre-command was set up, three weeks later the 3rd Flying & Technical Squadron Mk88. Or as it is correctly called today: Westland Sea Lynx Mk 88a. On 30 August, the naval aviators attracted a lot of attention. An "8-ship" formation flew over the partners in Wilhelmshaven. Of course, a special greeting went to the Einsatzflottille 2. Naturally, the formation was presented in the run-up to the 40th Sea Lynx - anniversary on the ground. Amazingly, there were 8 Lynx in the air, so together with the helicopters on Bavaria there are at least ten operational aircraft!

The marine forum wishes the Naval Aviation Command, Naval Air Wing 5 and its men and women continued success, a high level of clarity and many more flying hours!

In order to capture this spectacular event, photographic images were taken in the air. Accompaniment. The credits are due sharpeye-media.com.

  1. Yes, fond memories. And as head of the maintenance and weapons squadron in MFG 3, I was allowed to set up and train the first BHS maintenance groups for the frigates.
Bravo Zulu to the naval aviators.
