Bundeswehr running team's charity run a great success

Soldiers and reservists raise over 23,000 euros in donations

The charity runs organised by the Bundeswehr and reservist running team, which areils on Sunday evening endsen, are a great success. Over 2,000 participants supported the Wings for Life Foundation, the Association of German Veterans and the Afghan Local Forces Sponsorship Network in two charity runs.

Until the evening of 17 Octobers In 2021, almost 2 per cent of the participants.completed 200 runs and achieved a Donations totalling over 23,000 euros achieved. The largest number of participants came from Panzergrenadierbrigade 41 "Vorpommern" with 87, followed by the team from Air Defence Missile Group 21 with 66 and the coastal operations company of the naval battalion with 58 participants.

"The immense The popularity of the charity runs makes it clear that these issues move people and that the support of the German Armed Forces and reserve forces is particularly important.he ones who need our help are not just empty words, but this also follows up with action.", say Lieutenant Colonel Oliver Muhs and Frigate Captain Anke Mies, the two Initiatorsof the running team.

The 2nd charity run organised by the Bundeswehr and reservist running team supports the following organisations with half of the donations Wings for Life Foundation and the Association of German Einsatzveteranen e.V..Wings for Life is a non-profit, state-recognised foundation for spinal cord research with the aim of finding a cure for paraplegia. The Association of German Einsatzveteranen represents the interests of veterans of the German Armed Forces deployed abroad.

Patrons of the 2nd charity run were Major General André Bodemann, Commander of the Centre for Innere Führung, and the former Parliamentary State Secretary to the Federal Minister of Defence, Dr Peter Tauber. Further support for this charity run was provided by, for example, Sergeant Major Franziska Hildebrand, German biathlete, and by the deputy of the Inspector General of the Bundeswehr GeLieutenant General Markus Laubenthal.

On the occasion of the specialn Situation in Afghanistan organised the Bundeswehr and reservists running team short term another Charity run in favour of the patientscience networkit Afghan local forces e.V.. Major General Gert Nultsch, Military Vice President of the Federal Office of Bundeswehr Equipment, Information Technology and In-Service Support, was the patron of this charity run. Further support for this charity run was provided by Brigadier General Ansgar Meyer, Commander of the Commands Special forces and by the President of the Association of Reservists of the German Armed Forces and Member of the German Bundestag, Prof Dr Patrick Sensburg. As part of the charity run in favour of the Afghan Local Forces Sponsorship Network, over 2,000 euros were raised in almost 150 runs.

"We are very grateful to allthe end of the donation runs and Supporters and our sponsors Artiva-Sports and Fairever very grateful for their commitment. In view of the large number of participants, we are also very confident that several donation runs will take place again next year to help where it is urgently needed," said frigate captain Anke Mies and lieutenant colonel Oliver Muhs.

The 3rd charity run will take place from 10 - 25 September 2022 - you should make a note of this date now.
