The main theme of the conference is "Maritime combat - drivers for research, armaments and utilisation".
Under the proven patronage of Rear Admiral Christoph Müller-Meinhard, the event will take place on 23 and 24 September 2025 at the Van der Valk Resort in Linstow.
Focusing on maritime research, naval armament and utilisation, the workshop is traditionally aimed at the classic triangle of the navy, the public sector and industry, which together are required to realise the material war capability of the navy in the best possible way - quickly, effectively and geared to the specific operational scenario. Maritime combat must be the starting point for all considerations and the maxim for all actions! To this end, direct and open dialogue between the BMVg, navy, öAG, research and industry is more important than ever. The best possible provision of material through armament and utilisation requires a mutual understanding of what is technically possible and what is operationally necessary.
Only if users, planners and demand planners know what the industry can supply and under what conditions (e.g. price, time) is it possible to optimise planning and meet demand. On the other hand, industry can only supply equipment in the best and fastest possible way, or at best keep it available on the market, if it can anticipate which capabilities will be required. Research, too, can only be focussed on the navy if it understands what the navy will and must focus on. This may sound trivial, but in light of the complexity of maritime combat, the individual systems and not least the processes and procedures, it is not.
This is where the 27th Marine Workshop comes in: Information and appeal within the framework of keynote and plenary lectures, targeted impulses and discussions at the 30 posters in two sessions (which we are promoting with this 'Call for Papers') and open dialogue at the exhibition stands in the programme-free times allocated for this purpose. The programme will once again be enriched by a panel discussion with the keynote speakers, the traditional wake-up call on the second day of the conference and a concluding fishbowl in which decision-makers from the navy, the public sector and the defence industry will answer questions and make suggestions from the audience.
