Tender "Mosel" to the Aegean Sea

The tender „Moselle“ leaves on 23 March 2026 home port of Kiel for several months to organise the German contribution to the Standing NATO Maritime Group 2 and to the NATO support mission in the Aegean Sea to take over. In doing so, he releases the tender „Elbe“ which had been in use as a command platform since November 2025. Commander Armin Hansen emphasises the challenging operational situation, but believes his crew is well prepared. The aim of German participation in the NATO naval unit and the mission in the Aegean is to support the Greek and Turkish authorities as well as the German defence forces by monitoring and exchanging information. FRONTEX in the fight against smuggling networks and the reduction of refugee flows.
