15 January 2025 - Set sail sustainably & innovatively in 2025! Stade

The topic of sustainability affects the entire maritime industry and is extremely multifaceted. The regulations to be observed in the area of climate protection and environmental protection are once again becoming stricter for shipping companies in the Lower Elbe region and throughout northern Germany.

Ships over 5000 GT will be subject to the EU Emissions Trading System (ETS) from 2024. At EU level, measures such as the new regulations of the FuelEU Maritime Regulation, which are intended to incentivise the use of alternative climate-friendly fuels, must be taken into account. The measures to implement the IMO strategies for the gradual defossilisation of shipping will also be noticeable.

But how can we ensure that these fuels are available in the right quantity and quality? What are the procurement challenges and what will the maritime supply chain of the future look like? These and other questions are at the centre of our 5th Cross-Cluster Conference Hydrogen

17 February 2025 - 27th Kiel Marketplace: Coastal protection of the future, Kiel

The storm surge of the century in October 2023 caused enormous damage to the Baltic Sea coast and its residents. Dykes broke, 5,600 hectares of land and several towns were flooded. The damage has now largely been repaired, but is that enough?

Due to climate change, extreme events such as storm surges are becoming more frequent, which is why previous protection concepts need to be reconsidered. In addition to raising dykes, their relocation is also being discussed in order to achieve greater safety for Schleswig-Holstein's coasts and their residents through natural coastal protection.

  1. And don't forget, this year's Maritime Convention is taking place in Berlin on 12 November. However, participation is by invitation only, and the event is already fully booked.
