Tight schedule until commissioning

The Rhön-class fuel supply ships made history for almost half a century. The successor ships will bring the latest technology to the navy in the future.

Firing began at the end of June 2023 and a few weeks later the keel was laid for the first naval fuel supply vessel, the German Navy's new Class 707. Naval armaments is pursuing an ambitious schedule with the successors to the two fuel supply vessels Rhön and Spessart. Delivery of the first ship is scheduled for 2025, with the second to follow a year later.

With Class 704, which is currently still in service, the navy has the capability to supply entire task forces with fuel at sea - underway and at all times.
